Get out of your comfort zone! Let’s do it! Hey listen, I know! It’s tough to get out of your comfort zone. But that is what we must do in order to grow. And, if you want to grow in ways you never thought you could, I am here to tell you that it’s all about that damn comfort zone. If you WANT something you have never had before, then it’s gonna take DOING something you’ve never done before.
I was thinking about this very subject this morning. Before school, in the freezing cold (ok, well freezing cold for Las Vegas!) the Little Man and I left a few minutes early and went pine cone hunting for a project at school. I drove over to a section of our neighborhood with lots of pine trees and we climbed up the side of a small hill and searched for pine cones. There we were, sliding down the hill in the dirt, picking up pine cones and then screaming and throwing them down if there was a bug on it, laughing so hard…well you get the picture.
When we got back in the car, my son say’s “that was the craziest most fun thing we’ve ever done, Mommy! awesome!! can we do it again, tomorrow?” My heart was so full, it was about to burst! For me, being a Mommy means being out of my comfort zone all the time. Climbing hills, learning Minecraft (his current passion!) going to Jiu Jitsu. Come on, what the heck do I know about Jiu Jitsu?? I watch the teacher to see how I can help and then I find myself rolling around the living room demonstrating some move. Why?? Why would I do all this?? Because I would do anything for my kid. I’ll help him in anyway I can to learn and grow. Even if it means being out of my comfort zone.
That’s when it hit me. DUH!!! Apply that to yourself, girl! Get yourself the hell out of your comfort zone and get in the game in ways you’ve never dreamed of! So I made a list of things I HATE to do and things I don’t know how to do and wish I did. Things that take me out of my comfort zone. Things that just may improve my body and my voice and my playing and my performing and my LIFE and take them to levels I’ve only dreamed of. What would that be like? I intend to find out. What about you?
