POP WITH A JAZZY CURVE

Review Stephanie O’Dea’s “The Mommy Blogger Next Door!”

February 3, 2015 By Ms. Chicksinger 5 Comments

I am so excited to share with you “The Mommy Blogger Next Door”,  by Stephanie O’Dea! This is the first book in an upcoming series about blogging. For me, it all started when I first searched for crockpot recipes and low and behold, this shows up…

Stephanie O'Dea Slow Cooker, mommy blogger, singer, las vegas

I mean, seriously cute, right?! I was totally captivated as I started wandering through her amazing page and completely forgot all about my crockpot! lol! Take a peek for yourself. You won’t be sorry! The next recipes on my list to try are  The All American Pot Roast and Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Apples, yum!

Back to her new book, The Mommy Blogger Next Door. I have shared Stephanie’s pages over the past year with several of my friends and my So Cal BFF, Jen sent me a link to Stephanie’s page and new book. I have been working on improving my blog on singing, music and being a Momprenuer for awhile now, with only small results. I have participated in a couple of NaBloPoMo’s with BlogHer and had some tinkering done on my wordpress site and still haven’t really taken things to the next level. So, when Jen saw this book posted on Stephanie’s page, she sent me the link right away! What a good friend!

I immediately signed up for her The Mommy Blogger Next Door newsletter.  I had downloaded the sample to check it out and decide if it was right for me. I’m always looking for clear, succinct ways to improve my blog. So, was it right for me? Full of the kind of information you ACTUALLY need to create readers, learn about PR and create a blog that could potentially bring in a full time living? OH YEAH, BABY!

jazz singer, blogging, las vegas, singing pianist, mommy blogger

From your online presence to time management, creating your voice, branding and how to monetize. How she went about making some serious money all while “in your jammies and fuzzy slippers” and while being home to take care of your kids. Love it! By the way, she uses the term “mommy blogger” for the sake of simplicity, but this book can and does inform anyone wanting to make their blog into a living. I love her story, it’s so inspiring! And, she shares many successful bloggers and what they are doing. I’m still working my way through them! So many great ideas and thoughts and bloggers out there!

I think what I love best about this book is her enthusiasm for what she is doing AND for helping and teaching you what to do. Her goal is help everyone who wants to make a living with their blog. Unlike many other books on blogging, it is NOT full of other books or programs to buy. While this is first in a series of books Stephanie intends to write, it is clear you can get a long way with your blogging skills with this book alone. You can find it on Amazon to download to your Kindle or Kindle app. If you want to improve your blog, get some real world skills and perhaps even make some real money, you most definitely need this book! I may even have to do a giveaway if I see some great comments! 🙂

Full disclosure statement: I was gifted this fabulous book to read and then share with you. I was not compensated for this post, but I’m gonna have to buy Stephanie a nice glass of wine someday with all the money I make from her suggestions! 🙂

Just putting it out in the Universe!

I’m a big fan of vernacular…especially “slanguage”…I learned a new word today…”mompreneur”…definitely gonna add that to the vocab.

Thanks for the tip–as a technically inept person, I’m always looking for blog hints! Best of luck Karen!
