POP WITH A JAZZY CURVE

Tips for choosing entertainment for your special event

October 22, 2015 By Ms. Chicksinger Leave a Comment

Choosing entertainment for your special event. There are so many factors to consider when choosing live entertainment. Do you want an instrumentalist, a soloist, a duo, a trio, a quartet, a mini big band?  How do you know they will be reliable, likable and simply play the types of music and maybe even the specific songs you want to hear?

As with anything in life, do your homework and ask for what you want! Get website information, verifiable reviews, check out the musician’s Facebook and Instagram and Twitter to see what kind of person you will be working with. See if they are a part of an online booking service such as Gigmasters or Gigsalad to give you some extra piece of mind.

Once I am booked by a client, I go over all the booking details first. Date, time, length of service, payment details, venue location, number of guests, attire and how I can reach the client by email, text and phone calls. Also, I ask for all the venue information I can so that I can reach out to the event planner to personally view the space and say hello.

Next, I will go over the song list and any special song requests they have specified. Often, I will proactively ask about first dances, dedications, etc as there is so much for the client to think about! If it is their wedding or if it is a corporate event, they already have SO much going on! I want my music to be the least of their worries and their favorite aspect of the event. 🙂

Lastly, I keep in touch with the client on a weekly basis to check in and to give piece of mind. Often, I will not meet the client until the day of the event and I can understand how that can add to the nervous energy of the day. I want to make sure my client is comfortable and secure in the knowledge that I am the least of their worries and all is well with the music and entertainment part of their event!

jazz singer, singer, pianist, one girl band jazz singer, jazz band, jazz trio, las vegas

Last week I was in Texas with my harmony-driven, #jazz trio, cabaret show performing, girl group, Dangerous Curves jazz singer, jazz trio, las vegas,

on a fabulous gig where we sang the songs of the McGuire Sisters and the Andrews Sisters for a birthday party. They were looking for some fabulous Las #Vegas entertainment and that’s what they got! This estate was absolutely gorgeous….take a peek at this…there were at least 5 windows this size with a full lake view, and the outside tent the event company built, OMG! Chandeliers and white leather couches, outside! Needless to say, we had a ball!

Back to the point, we kept in constant contact with our client and agent so that we gave them exactly what they asked for. They were so happy and we were thrilled to be a part of such a lovely celebration. When they send the picture of us with the guest of honor, I’ll be sure to update.

That’s it! Good luck and remember to do your homework when it comes to choosing your entertainment! I’d love to help you out in anyway. Just drop me a line and we’ll get things rolling!
