POP WITH A JAZZY CURVE

workin’ girl! come on let’s SING!

November 11, 2014 By Ms. Chicksinger Leave a Comment

Workin’ girl, indeed! time to SING! I’m a little behind with my NaBloPomo posts due to the fact that my schedule to sing and teach is off-the-charts! Yippee! It started early Friday morning when, at 730am, my amazing hairstylist Christie did my hair for my busy show weekend!

We were off to sing with Lena Prima, the oh-so-talented daughter of legendary Louis Prima. Not only is she a fabulous chicksinger, she is as true and authentic and lovely, off stage as she is onstage. Check out her page at Reverbnation, her original music is awesome!!! You will, no doubt, be hearing more from this incredible woman.

The show was a blast and we had so much fun talking and singing and giggling! Lots of giggling this trip! Always a good thing!

The next morning after a quick cup of coffee, we jumped in the car, dropped off Lisa so she could head off to her jazz trio gig, and headed to the M Resort, for a show called “An Evening with the Next Generation”, where Gret and I sang back ups for not only Lena, but also Ricci Martin, Dean Martin’s son! I also got to meet Lorna Luft (daughter of Judy Garland) which was tremendous. Another fabulous show that I was excited to be a part of.

Sunday morning came way to early with a few students of piano and an audition prep and then phew! Time for some afternoon family fun! I even got to visit one of my favorite stores the Paper Source and filled some of my crafty needs.

Monday brings a rehearsal for Dangerous Curves as we prepare for the many shows we have coming up in November and December. Talk about using all of my vocal technique to stay in good voice!!! Seriously, lots of warm ups, lots of nice hot tea and honey and fresh juices, too. I’ve got to get back into my walking program…good cardio health is essential to great singing and I have definitely been remiss in my cardio work.

Tuesday brought my lesson and it was filled with learning how to write charts properly, ear training work and of course, a little therapy. 😉 My teacher is a big supporter in me and my projects as he is with all of us lucky enough to call him teacher. He is tough and loving, strict and resourceful. I strive to emulate him as both a performer and a teacher.

Gotta share what’s coming up! It is already the holiday season! I sincerely hope I get to see you at one of our shows. And, if you need a stocking stuffer…may I suggest some lovely Christmas music? Here’s the link to buy our Christmas music on iTunes or if you’d like an autographed actual CD, go here! Love ya! (✿◠‿◠)♫❤
