POP WITH A JAZZY CURVE

You’ve gotta show up!

March 17, 2015 By Ms. Chicksinger 6 Comments

Updated! Irony that I’m headed out to my lesson today…oh YES! I absolutely still study. You’ve gotta show up! Show up to your class, your lessons, school, YOUR LIFE!  Get to your lesson, go to class, head out to your practice,  you just don’t know what you are going to miss!

People! It’s so crazy the way this phenomena happens. It even happened to my son and I was SO glad for the lesson! One day after school, he didn’t want to go to his Jiu Jitsu class. (He is now a Yellow Belt in KenPo! WOW) Hey! I get it! He’s only 7 and he is a busy boy. Top grades are important to this family, so he does his homework nightly, plus reading. He is involved in JJ, swimming and now it’s soccer season. Sometimes, you just don’t wanna go. Sometimes, you just want to sit on the couch and watch Minecraft videos, or his newest passion, climbing trees. I get it! Me, too! Except my guilty pleasure is conspiracy theories on Netflix, or sitting in the sun reading blog posts and/or my other passion, reading (currently reading “Girl, Wash Your Face” and “Getting Things Done”) and of course,

looking at Pinterest. BUT! While we all need our downtime, if you are going to get ahead in your life, you gotta show up and do the work!

I love that this lesson was so profoundly learned by my Little Man at a young age. I will no doubt have to remind him of it from time to time. I’ve got to remind myself of this, lol! I’m teaching about 5 students today, some voice, some piano, some have a test this week that I’m helping them prep for. Today is Tuesday and it’s my day to take a lesson of voice and piano. In addition, I need to rehearse for a show I have on Saturday and I’ve got to get my newsletter out and this blog post done. This Mompreneur thing is really tough and I’ll be honest with you, today is one of those days that I am searching for my inner inspiration…

But, that’s ok! I know I will push forward and no doubt I will find the strength from God to make it through the day. My son and my husband and my music are all the inspiration I need. 🙂

Let’s dig deep and find the strength and will and desire to live a big life with big dreams fulfilled! Step one is showing up!

Now, let’s get on with our day!

Oh, how true! my little one had a meltdown on the way home from school yesterday; she did NOT want to go to dance, she never wanted to take dance lessons (what?). I made her go, mean mom that I am.
When class was over, she hugged me and thanked me (and apologized for yelling.)

Sometimes, just showing up is more than half the battle!
